Day One FAST 800 (Monday)
The fast 800 - starting today. Why am I doing this? The very basic answer is to lose weight.
So what is it? It’s a low calorie diet for at least 2 weeks (can be longer dependant on your weight loss goals) and then you move to the “new 5:2 diet” you eat your food within a time window too - time restricted eating (TRE) and on your 2 days you eat 800 calories and the 5 you eat a healthy diet (he recommends Mediterranean diet!) then part 3 of it - maintain. You keep eating healthily and you exercise and allow yourself those treats BUT don’t let it all slip .

I know that a lot of people will tell me not to do it, I know a lot of people will say that I am silly and tell me to be careful. I will say though that I have read this book( and some of the studies he mentions), I have looked at it and I can see from it that it has worked for many many people. He’s not recommending that for like you only eat 800 calories, just for a short term. I am going to try this because I am interested to see if it will work. Even if you don’t agree with it still support - it’s important that even with your doubts you can trust that if I find I am unable to do it or I find that I do not feel great doing it I WILL STOP that is a promise to myself and to others.
I will be using my Pinchofnom.com Recipes - Slimming World & Weight Watchers Friendly book to help me make sure that all I am doing is healthy and the plus is that they have their calories are written at the top - perfect!

Day Two FAST 800 (Tuesday)
it was another success.
My food was the super simple chicken curry with cauli rice and 3 onion bhajis - I put them on my plate before I started eating so that I knew in my head what I was to eat and wasn’t allowing myself anything else. Restraining yourself is hard and I did want more, but I listened to advice my mum gave me when I was growing up - wait 20 minutes after you’ve finished eating if you’re still hungry have a little bit more but if you don’t stop. Your stomach needs around 20 minutes to realise it’s full.

Then I had a salad with a little bit of ham (a half portion of 37.5g) and it was perfect.
I felt satisfied and the only time I felt hungry was when I was cooking dinner - so all smell related!
DAY 3 FAST800 (Wednesday)
Today was a good day, I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day again. I wasn't thinking about food, I wasn't feeling hungry and I was ready to tackle a few of the jobs that I had been putting off because I was motivated!
Lunch was some yummy carrot and coriander soup (I just used the tinned version as I didn't have the ingredients to make fresh) and it was very yummy. Normally I would have bread etc with it but it was just the soup today and to be honest after an initial couple of spoons I didn't miss it.
DAY 4 FAST800 (Thursday)
Today was a little more difficult - I will be honest about that. Why? Because I was out at 2 friends house and I think they felt bad that I 'couldn't eat anything' (although I would say it's that I didn't need anything to eat) I had a cup of black tea and it was perfect. I didn't feel the need to eat anything. The feel of the hot tea in my mug as I held it was enough - I wouldn't have needed to even drink it.
I was feeling peckish around 230 so at 3 I made myself a ham salad with a little mango dressing and it was perfect! hit the spot and filled me right up. I weighed everything to ensure I had the correct portion size - STILL working on those portion sizes! It is so easy to forget portion sizing and just eat!!! Anyway, the salad, a cup of black tea and some water was just what I needed, then back out to run some errands with the family.
Dinner was a bolognese sauce that I made from scratch and it was so yummy - It had mushrooms and peppers in it, but I knew the kids wouldn't eat it if they knew so I blitzed it and they ate it. The mince consistency is a tad funny but not unappealing so I have found my new way to feed veggies to some of my picky kids and to get more yummy goodness into our food!!!
I added a portion of quinoa (a complex carb) and a tiny side salad
As of today, I am down 7.5lbs. I feel good about that. It has brought me into the next stone bracket and has got me closer to my ultimate goal. I will say that once I reach that goal I will evaluate it and see if it is in fact where I want to be and go from there.
Day Five FAST800 (Friday)
Yesterday was a good day again with food, I did have a little wobble where I wanted to tear into my kids' toast - white bread and butter ... If you've had an operation and have had to fast you will know how amazing that toast is!!!
I had a day where I was working (I sew over at My Little Honee Bee) and I was filling some orders, so my mind was not on food at all. When my stomach did start to rumble a little (at 2.30) I made myself up a ham salad with a mango dressing. It was perfect, it hit the spot and was filling. I'm finding that I don't need to eat as much as I thought I did in order to feel full.
Dinner was leftovers. I have to say I love how packed the mince was filled with vegetables and kept it healthy and jam-packed with all the goodness that our bodies need.
What is helping me is drinking plenty of water (i try and drink around 3-4 litres) and black or herbal tea. I have to say that I haven't found that I've been hungry at all. unless I've smelt something delicious!!!
Day Six FAST 800 (Saturday)
Today was hard. I will admit it. I took my oldest to the cinema today and I brought him his bucket with some popcorn and a cookie and we shared a coke zero (as a one-off It's ok)and I had a tea. I really wanted to eat the popcorn, I could smell it - I didn't though. I resisted the urge to splurge (that should be a hashtag!!)
We had to go into town after the cinema and I grabbed JD a quick Greggs (MAN!!!! I wanted those Yum Yum's badly!!!) but I got myself another tea - it helps quench those inappropriate food cravings!
At home, I wasn't actually hungry so I left it a couple hours and then had a yummy egg salad. There was no dressing today just the salad, 2 boiled eggs and some seasoning. I'm finding that my appetite is now getting smaller. I don't want as much (SCORE!!!!)
For dinner, I made the veggie burgers from the Pinch of Nom book. I made the sweet potato fritters (think that's what they're called.) with the sour cream and chive dip (actually greek style yoghurt) I gave it to the others in a burger bun but I had mine on a bed of green lettuce leaves. It was so delicious, fresh and felt like I was filling my body with all things clean!
I went out on tonight to a friends house where there was so much yummy food - the brownies looked amazing! But I didn't have anything. I had some tea and some water and actually when I thought about it, I was still satisfied from dinner I didn't really want anything. There was no need for me to have anything, and I stuck to that. I am proud that I stuck to that, even if I wanted to eat it all.
Day Seven FAST 800 (Sunday)
Today consisted of one meal. Why?
we had people over for lunch after church so the meal was bigger than my regular meals. Even still I didn't completely overindulge.
I cooked the chicken differently today, it was placed on a rack with water placed under it. As it cooked it didn't sit in the fat (my husband did use the juices to make some gravy) Along with the chicken I made so many different veggie options - so here's what I had ... Chicken leg (I took the skin off and gave that to Dale) along with carrot and parsnip mash - absolutely nothing was added to this, it was literally just the vegetables (PERFECT!!) Next there was peas, leeks, broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms and one breakfast spoon of stuffing. I didn't have any mash potatoes or Yorkshire puddings or sausages. I had the smallest bit of gravy. I was very good and didn't go back for seconds. I kept drinking plenty of water - water is my best friend! For dessert, we were having ice-cream sundaes - which I love, so I had a half scoop of ice cream and a handful of sweets with a teaspoon of chocolate syrup. I am really actually pretty proud of myself for being sedate because I know I could have eaten so much more and before this week I really would have.
Seeing the pounds dropping on the scales is definitely an incentive. I will share with you tomorrow the results of the first week - I need to do my measurements.
I know that I am smaller though as my jeans are fitting me better and the dress I wore today was not as tight. I felt good, the first time in a long time I can actually say that.

My measurements from the start to now :
So here goes -
As you can see I've lost 7 inches from all over. The place I lost the most inches was my waist (my problem area after cesareans, myomectomy, pregnancy and from being incredibly over weight.
I am so proud of these results. I am shocked that I lost just over 10lbs!!!!
I wonder how week two will go? I'm not expecting such a big loss this next week, but like week one I will keep you updated and do another blog post to let you see those results too.
Any questions just send me a wee email :) I'd be happy to help x
