It’s been a while
Life has become hectic with us.

You might be the same where you are. When you are so busy with the everyday that you forget to look after yourself. Or when you are forced to stop and take stock of what is going on with your own health.
That’s where I am… my body has forced me to stop what it was doing and rethink.
In April 2023 I was (finally) diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. It was expected with all the symptoms that I had. Even though I knew it, and my husband knew it, it was hard to hear. Life with fibromyalgia is that - LIFE!
There is no cure for it, there is no medication that can help, there is just (and I hate this term) ‘ lifestyle changes’ that you can do. I honestly find this so hard, my lifestyle has changed dramatically to what I was able to do, how I lived my life with my family and what I wanted to achieve.
If you’re new to this blog, I originally set it up to keep myself accountable to my weightloss with PCOS. I don’t know if you have PCOS but it is incredibly difficult to lose weight with it, due to insulin resistance and increased testosterone (that’s in my case) I worked out religiously every week - 6 times a week in the morning, getting up before the rest of the house to do, on average, an hour HIIT workout. In the evenings 3/4 times a week I was at the gym doing weights.
At the beginning I hated it, but I learned to love it and if I missed a workout I found I really missed it. When we went placed I would take my workout stuff with me so I could still do something, I would look for places that made it easy for me to workout.
From August 2014-2016 I changed my lifestyle, to begin with I just exercised and didn’t really change my diet. The January 2015 I decided to really change my diet. I had researched, made notes and thought about what I was going to do. I was convinced, after a bad Christmas of food when I was incredibly bloated, that I was changing the food for sure.
I did it and in a year I lost 7 stone. Then I had a miscarriage, and 2 babies back to back. (Miscarriage 2016, baby 2017 and 2018) I then found out I had gallstones and because of that my weight plummeted to basically my goal weight.
I had my surgery to remove my gallbladder, and things began to change again. The weight went on a little bit and then Covid hit …
Just before Covid hit, I started to feel like I was more tired but I pushed through it. I continued to feel exhausted and sore, and have issues with my stomach post the gallbladder surgery.
Roll forward 4 years, it’s a new year and I’m trying to figure out the best way to move forward with my food intake. I’ve become more lax with some things, I’ve found that there are new foods which cause pains to my stomach. So, I am going back to where my weightloss all began.
I’m stripping everything down to basics. No processed, no salt, limited caffeine, no dairy, no processed sugary things, no fizzy drinks, no alcohol and now no gluten. (Although I have found homemade bread and sourdough does not affect my stomach)
I want to go back to eating as clean as possible. Back to cooking from scratch- which I do a lot of, but I’ve maybe had too big a portion, or had that bit of cheese that I shouldn’t have had. Especially over Christmas there has been chocolate, and sweets and cookies - not actually that much but still enough.
So today is January 1st and I’m taking it back to basics.
If you wanna stick around for the *fun* you are very welcome.
Let’s see if I can help my PCOS and Fibromyalgia and stomach issues with the food that I eat.
